El móvilKendini Türk hisseden herkes Türk'tür. 6/30/2009 Terminator 4I remember that first time I watch Terminator 1 on TV, the tention and horror left me breathless throughout the film.
Now, time flies. The Terminator Salvation a.k.a. Terminator 4 hit the cinema.
I had always wanted to watch this movie in big screen, but I just couldn't motivate myself enough to go to any theater.
Yesterday afternoon, when I learned that this movie would not be shown in cenema since July.
I had no choice, just like John Cornor in the movie, but to accept my own destiny - go to the Cinemark theater in the Pacific Living Mall right after work.
Gosh... I love this movie so bad, because terminator 4 is so connected with the previous three.
And the sound and visual effects in the movie were extraordinary.
Now, I could also call myself one die-hard fan of Terminator series.
I especially enjoyed the speeched by John Conor, making me want to join the Resistence as well!!
I'll be back! 6/29/2009 090628 What a Waste Sunday 好衰! Oh my gosh. Oh no!!!!!!!!!! 難道這個時候我要向阿諾看奇說 "I'll be back!" "Uh... I just want to call and say hello!" "Okay... I'll give you a call later! Bye!" 慘! 6/25/2009 090623 Perú Mucho Gusto at Food Taipei
Gycs from Peru Trade Office invited me to Food Taipei last week.
At first, I thought I might not feel like going as I had work in weekdays and I also thought the Food Taipei Exhibition at Nangang Exhibition Hall might be boring as it's made for the buyers not the customers.
Nevertheless, I still had a change of mind, not to waste this opportunity to see the new things, and taste some little food, as in my imagination.
Off I went, taking half a day leave on Tuesday, the opening of this 4-day event.
From CIECA office to Nangang Exhibition Hall only took me around 30 minutes by a direct bus. I waited for Katka and Mino for a while. Then, we used the invitation Gycs gave us to exchange for the pass.
Upon entering the hall, I was greeted by a vendor, asking me to try their candy. Cool, I did not expect to eat so fast. And for the next 4 hours, I could not stop eating at all. Sausage, ice cream, cheese stick, ramen, sashimi, fried chicken, fried rice, to name just a few. We walked literally four hours from 1 - 5 pm, seeing around, eating around. Sometimes, my hands were full of the sticks, saucers or forks that I could not take more food samples from these eager vendors. "Then, we will build our Food Taipei 101 with the cups we had collected." I joked.
But, most attractive part for me in this Food Exhibition was the Peru Pavilion, where Pisco and Pisco Sour were served. When in Arequipa, I remembered one night we were with Andrea and Miguel to a bar, I had Arequipeñ Cerveza while Miguel ordered a Pisco Sour. But hard as I tried, I could not remember the taste of the Pisco Sour after returning to Taiwan. So, I decided to try Pisco Sour at Food Taipei in remembrance of my Peru trip!
There we met Ruben Honores, NCCU IMBA graduate, who started up his own business here in Taiwan. We chatted and realized that he also joined AIESEC Perú for two years. What a coincidence to bump into AIESECers everywhere we went! Ruben was from Lima as well. I told him I was not fond of Lima too much as he prepared the Pisco Sour for us.
It was my first time to watch Peruvian prepare Pisco Sour. First he added the Pisco Puro into the blender, along with the Pisco Sour powder that he brought from Peru as it is difficult to find the ingredient needed for Pisco Sour. I never thought that making a Pisco Sour could take so long, even with the convenient Pisco Sour powder at hand. Hm... I must take Pisco Sour for granted when in Arequipa. After blending the Pisco Puro with the powder, he added a little cinnamon to decorate. Now, the dream Pisco Sour was done!
Once we saluted and sipped the Pisco Sour, I found the familiar sour taste from my mouth into the throat, letting me recall my memories in Perú. I instantly fell in love with Pisco Sour. Later that afternoon, we also tried Pisco Puro, 40 up something alcohol percentage, I felt my throat burning after drinking bottom up. I preferred Pisco Sour to the Pisco Puro.
In the Hungary Pavilion, we got to know Mr. Róbert János FÜLE from the Hungarian Trade Office, who hospitably treated us Egri Bikavér, a.k.a. Bull's Blood, Hungary's most famous red wine. It has a historic story behind its nickname as around 1552, the Turkish invaded Hungary under Kanunı Sultan Süleyman. "To motivate and support the small group of soldiers during the Siege of Eger castle they were served delicious food and a lot of red wine. Among the Turkish soldiers it was rumored that bull's blood was mixed into the red wine, as otherwise the strength and firm resistance of the town and castle of Eger could not be explained. Finally the enemy gave up." It's good to hear the story behind, especially when Turkish is involved. :) Also, Mr. János knew CIECA and was amazed that I could still remembered the name of the deputy director of Hungarian Trade Office, Mr. Kilián. "That's why I felt impressed by these Taiwanese guys, they can still remember the names even though the languages are totally different and difficult." he further explained. Really? I do not think I remember the names very well.
After four hours of walking, countless saucers of food sampling and three cups of wine, I felt merry and satisfied. Of course there's another hall that we did not visit. I wanted to visit the Halal Food Pavilion but it was already 5 o'clock so we had to call it a day. The exhibition was full of information for market research and delicacies for gluttons.
I am glad that I did manage to come and visit but I am more glad that we got invited by Gycs to the Food Taipei Exhibition. 6/22/2009 Weekend in RemembranceAnother weekend had just ended. In this past weekend, I watched Travel and Living showing Peru again.
It's a totally different feeling to watch the same show before and after visiting Peru!
Machu Picchu still seems so spectacular even I had conquered it.
Also, I watch "Fun Taiwan" hosted by Janet, showing one Colombian director, Hector Mora, around Chiayi, Taiwan.
That was cool... I thought it actually meant a director from Columbia university since it's hard to see any colombian on TV.
On Sunday night, I got a call from Sibel telling me that Discovery Channel was showing Metroplitan City - Istanbul.I watched it. It was a brand new program which I had not watched before.
The show mainly focused on Turkey embraces Islam or Europe. But it ended without a firm conclustion.
Maybe there's no consensus thus far for the program to jump into conclusion.
Although I still listened to songs from these respective countries, but I just felt so distant from them right now.
Don't know when I could possibly return to these lovely countries.
